The world’s leading houses presented their 2021 Haute Couture collections in hybrid form in Milan, Paris and online spaces. The pieces showcased on the runway show how the designers adapted to the current situation so that their creations usually designed for mostly red carpet events and awards ceremonies, could also be worn in everyday life or at small gatherings.
"Give it your all and stay at home!" – stated Giambattista Valli, who aptly expressed his feelings regarding the Spring-awaiting season with his show filled with peonies. In the traditional sense, programmes to ward off the winter will be missed this year, however, the wonderful creations presented at Haute Couture Week will be able to serve as great inspiration for the unusual carnival and ball season ahead of us, even if we end up only celebrating at home.
Looking at what the Haute Couture collections have in store for us, pink, mint green, and metallic hues, as well as classic black, will be on-trend colours this Spring-Summer season. The catwalks of Chanel, Valentino, Dior, Fendi and Viktor & Rolf also featured quality blazers, ruffled skirts and elegant, oversized blouses in the so-called “haute reality” category. The two big surprises of the season were the appearance of the gilet and the wreaths of flowers creating a 3D effect.
Shapes and colours according to the latest trends can also be found in the selection on offer at the Budapest Select Concept Store. The oversized blouse from AERON is a real classic that can be easily incorporated into everyday life. A super elegant find is the French-cut, lace-infused blazer from Sentiments, and also Orovica’s double-breasted buttoned vest. However, for lovers of glittery, romantic evenings, we would recommend the gold maxi dress from Maison Marquise, the NATI100% PUREIDEA sequined tulle dress, or the detailed skirt with applique flowers from VIKTORIAVARGA.
